COCOLILYS COLLECTION

What started as an unexpected phone call opened the door to an opportunity I couldn’t have dreamed of. Cocolillys reached out with the idea of collaborating with a University of Arkansas student to create an Arkansas gameday collection, and seven months later, 15 original pieces had gone from ideas in my head to a collection brought to life. I approached the collection with a vision for elevated styles inspired by Southern tradition. I wanted each piece to feel true to Arkansas while still being something women would reach for far beyond football season—pieces that felt special, sweet, and made getting dressed a little more joyful.
What began as an opportunity to design a collection quickly became one of the most meaningful experiences of my college career. Seeing my ideas move from inspiration and early concepts to real garments was incredibly surreal and gave me the opportunity to experience firsthand what it means to bring a creative vision to life. More than anything, Cocolillys by Ally Hodges is a reflection of what I love most about fashion: thoughtful design, meaningful details, and creating clothing that makes women feel confident, beautiful, and genuinely excited to get dressed.
The vision for the collection was rooted in the idea of Southern traditions meeting European elegance. I wanted to reinterpret Arkansas gameday style through a softer, more elevated lens—incorporating feminine silhouettes, romantic textures, tailored details, and a rich palette of Arkansas red, ivory, and cream.
Throughout the collection, I explored lace, satin, embroidery, pearls, statement trims, and intricate silhouettes while keeping versatility at the center of each design. My goal was to create pieces that could feel just as natural at a football weekend as they would at a dinner, event, or special occasion.
The Inspiration.
I was given creative freedom to develop the collection from the ground up, beginning with original garment concepts and translating my vision into visual design direction for the Cocolilys team and their manufacturing partners.
For each piece, I defined the silhouette, fabrication, print, color, proportion, and design details, creating individual concept boards to communicate my direction. I used generative AI as a visualization tool, developing detailed prompts from my original concepts and pairing the resulting mockups with references, material selections, construction details, and development notes.
These concepts became the foundation for product development, evolving through fabric selection, prototypes, fittings, and revisions before becoming the final collection.

Once the original concepts were established, the collection moved into development alongside the Cocolillys team and their manufacturing partners. Through material selections, initial samples, fittings, and ongoing revisions, I worked to preserve the original design direction while adapting each piece for fit, wearability, and production. This stage brought the concepts off the page and allowed each garment to evolve through collaboration and hands-on refinement.
Behind the Development.
After seven months of concept development, sampling, revisions, and collaboration, 15 original designs came together as the final Cocolilys by Ally Hodges collection. The finished pieces brought the original vision to life through feminine silhouettes, romantic detailing, and an elevated interpretation of Arkansas gameday style—designed to feel special far beyond football season.
